How ever good the story, how ever great the characters, it is the talent behind the pen that makes a good book GREAT. Oh, I’ve heard about the whole “feet warming” and such beforehand, as it’s often mentioned as a memorable scene by many readers, but it didn’t lessen the impact of it.

This story just did it for me, great pacing, love, danger, treachery, good conquering evil, amazing complex characters, and I loved reading the little quotes at the beginning of each chapter. I loved Duncan and Madelyne was a likeable heroine though her erratic behavior can sometimes be off-putting, the interactions between the two were adorable and at the same time HOT.
