You talk as if you were confessing the secrets of your heart to someone who wanted to hear them. On one outing, Mor wants to show Miss Carter a small river outside the town. There are elements of tragedy and comedy in fairly equal measure and Murdoch rather expertly makes it difficult for the reader to see where one ends and the other starts.
